The Visayan Music Awards (VizMA) has just released the top 10 finalists for its songwriting competition. VizMA is organized by the Sacred Heart School for Boys Batch 1985 Foundation Inc. and is endorsed by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas. Their aim is to recognize men and women who have played an important role in the promotion of the Visayan language, culture, and music.
The first-ever Visayan Music Awards Finals Night will happen on July 27, 2019, 7 PM at the Oakridge Pavilion, Mandaue City. The 10 finalists will perform a live rendition of their song with the Cebu Philharmonic Orchestra. Cebuano artists Karencitta and Max Surban will also be gracing the event along with the host, Giselle Sanchez.

Out of the 500 songs submitted in this year’s Visayan Music Awards, 10 excellent composers made it and have best represented Visayan culture through their music. The top 10 finalists were revealed at the Asmara Urban Resort and Lifestyle Village last July 18, 2019.
Here’s a list of the Top 10 finalists in alphabetical order.
The Grand Prize winner will receive Php100,000; Php 75,000 and Php 50,000 for the Second and Third Placers, respectively; and Php 10,000 each for the Fourth to Tenth Placers. The finalists will also receive a scholarship worth Php 150,000 from Thames International’s Innovation and Creative Enterprise Program (ICE).
