Travelling the World on a Budget Doesn’t have to Be a Pipedream

If you see people on Instagram traveling the world all the time, then you may wonder how they do it. I used to think that they could do it because they had great jobs or even a limitless bank account. But when I started traveling, I realized that this is not always the case. When you follow these top tips, you will soon find that it is more than possible for you to travel the world while on a budget.

Travel to Cheap Countries

If you are on a tight budget, then it is so important that you choose your destinations wisely. Sure, you might want to go and see killer whales in the Fjords but this will probably be a very expensive vacation. Instead, try and focus on cheaper countries instead. For example, you could go motorbikes around India for a tenth of the price and this could be just as enjoyable. Asia is always a good place for you to visit if you are short on cash and the main reason for this is because they are great value for money. There are plenty of hidden gems in Central America too, such as El Salvador, Nicaragua or even Guatemala.

Find a Job Abroad

If you can work while you travel, then you should certainly look into this. Working abroad will help you to pay yourself around the country and you may even find that you can save up for your next vacation at the same time. Finding a temporary job abroad can be difficult, to say the least, but if you have some computer skills then you can easily capitalize on your own talent. For example, you could design logos, or you could even try and write website content. Either way, it doesn’t matter where your skills lie because if you are crafty with a computer, then there is no reason at all why you can’t go on to make a good and steady income while abroad.

Woofing

Woofing might sound expensive, but it’s not at all. It’s when you provide work in exchange for food and accommodation. There are tons of organizations out there who can help you with this, one of them being the WWOOF. It does cost to sign up with this site but when you do, you will be allowed to work with farmers across many different countries. You can save money on accommodation and you might even be able to travel to New Zealand, the USA, and Europe too.

Stay with Locals

Couchsurfing is a fantastic way for you to travel the world without going over budget. You can crash on a stranger’s couch or you can even stay in a spare room. Either way, some so many people are willing to offer their homes so that you can have somewhere to stay. There are plenty of sites that you can sign up with as well, and when you do, you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to have the best holiday without having to worry about money.

Housesitting

Housesitting is another way for you to make your vacation much more affordable. You’ll be taking care of people’s houses when they are away, and in exchange, you get free accommodation. Of course, you can easily find places to stay through a variety of online sites. You never know, you may end up staying in the hills overlooking a winery or you may even get a condo in South Africa. Of course, when you do sign up with sites like this, you will need to try and build up your online reputation and you will also need to get references from sites around the world too.

Don’t Drink or Eat Out

If you want to travel the world on a budget, then it is so important that you learn how to save money. This may sound easy, but this isn’t the case at all. Temptation can sometimes get the better of you and you may even find that you are not able to resist. Don’t spend money on things that don’t matter, such as alcohol or even exquisite meals. Instead, focus on spending money on going on excursions or even days out. This will take up most of your time and it will also make it much easier for you to do more when on your travels. If you are on a budget and just don’t see a way to even finance your vacation, then it may be a good idea for you to look into a guarantor loan. You can use this guarantor loans calculator to find out more.

Choose Free Activities

Everywhere you go, you’ll see free activities and things to do. You should try and take advantage of things like this if you want a cheap way to travel the world. You’d be surprised at how much of a difference this can make to your trip and you may even end up going to places you never thought you would. Consider hiking to viewpoints, visiting any religious buildings or even playing a sport in the park with the locals. A lot of people love learning English, so if you can, consider talking to them in your home language and learn some of their phrases too. This can provide you with a quality learning opportunity and it may even open up new doors while on your adventure.

Van-Life

One way for you to make your vacation cheaper than ever before would be for you to choose the van life. Consider going across Australia, Europe, or even the US. Sometimes this is what traveling is all about because you get to leave everything behind and take a trip into the unknown. Living the van life will give you good accommodation and transport, meaning that it is one of the best ways for you to travel the world while on a budget. If you haven’t thought about renting a van before then there are tons of companies who can help you out, or you can even buy one second-hand and kit it out according to your personal preferences.
