If there is one country in South East Asia that I would love to explore for a year, it would be Vietnam. One reason for that is I am quite curious of their cuisine. But I do not have the luxury of time and money to do that right now, which is why I always search for restaurants here in my hometown that offers Vietnamese cuisine.
One Vietnamese restaurant I’ve visited in the past was Phat Pho from the Abaca Group. They were still situated at Robinsons Cybergate, near Fuente Osmena Circle, at that time. I only tried a pho, and didn’t get the chance to try other dishes. It has been awhile since I went there because it’s a bit far from home.
That is why I was glad to know that Phat Pho has now transferred to a much bigger space in Ayala, just below K-Pub Restaurant. It’s a nearer to my home now. 🙂
Anyway, Carlo of Kalami Cebu, tagged me along with other bloggers to visit Phat Pho the other day. We tried several dishes, and boy I loved all of them! Generally, Vietnamese cuisine is not that bold in any particular taste, but that is what I love about it. Also, it is something Filipinos can totally relate, just like any Asian cuisine.

My absolute favorite from all of the dishes I tasted was the Pho Xao and Angus Beef Satay. Both definitely have rich and flavorful sauces and garnish. I like that the peanut garnish added flavor on the Angus Beef Satay. It’s definitely a must try!
Phat Pho also offers this refreshment drink for only 198 pesos and it’s bottomless! It’s like flavored water filled with citrus fruits.
I had a great time with my friends at Phat Pho and I highly recommend you visit this restaurant when in Cebu. You better eat pho like a pro! For someone who is not that familiar with the Vietnamese cuisine, I didn’t get intimidated by their food choices. You know, Vietnamese cuisine is quite simple, but that’s exactly what I love about it.
It is different but still tastes like home.
