One of the main reasons why I love Cebu is its abundance of attractions. Whether you’re interested in mountains, white sand beaches, waterfalls, or forest reserves, you will find everything here. And the best thing about it is that these places are just an hour or two from the city. Two of the most popular destinations in Cebu are Osmeña Peak and Kawasan Falls. I can no longer count the number of times I’ve been to these spots. But I’m glad I went back with Merrell Philippines this time.

Merrell in Cebu: Let’s Getaway campaign

Along with some friends in the media, we set out first to Osmena Peak to warm up and test our new pairs. I got my Merrell Tetrex Rapid Crest Water Shoe which is perfect for hiking, camping, and water rafting.

I’ve been using my old Merrell Waterpro Maipo for a long time now so I already knew what to expect. And as expected, Merrell Tetrex proves to be a great pair to use in the outdoors. It’s super lightweight and has excellent grip and stability even on slick surfaces.
No matter how many times I have climbed Osmena Peak, the view from the top is still breathtaking. The weather definitely cooperated and we were able to take really great shots.
We then headed to one of Cebu’s majestic waterfalls – the Kawasan Falls! Even on a weekday, it is evident that Kawasan Falls is a popular destination. Locals and tourists are flocked in the area to enjoy the cold and calming waters of Kawasan.
It was time to test out the hydro-hiking powers of our shoes. We hiked from Level 1 all the way up to Level 3 of the waterfalls. If you’ve never been to Kawasan, you should know that the trail is quite slippery so you need to be careful. Thankfully, Merrell’s Vibram® Megagrip outsoles help a lot in hiking the wet and slippery trails of Kawasan.
