I’ve never been into a Homestay before. Whenever I travel, I either stay at hotels, resorts, or pension houses. It was never an option for my travels before since I usually do random backpacking trips, and pension houses/dorms are usually the type of accommodation where I am most familiar with.
That is why I was totally overjoyed when I learned that I, along with nine other Cebu bloggers, will be staying in Empty Nest Vacation House – a house in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, which has been turned into a Homestay. This house is located in a residential compound, conveniently situated on a road going to Panglao Island.
The house has three air conditioned rooms, two of which can accommodate at least three persons and one room that can accommodate four persons. The house also has two bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a dining area, a laundry area, front yard and a 2-car park.

Aside from kitchen utensils, cutleries, and drinking glasses, the kitchen is also fully equipped with refrigerator, a gas stove, an electric stove, a microwave oven, an oven toaster, and percolator.
An outdoor lounge area right in the middle of the flower garden is also available for use to guests.
Staying at this vacation house costs PHP 3000 per night which is good for four persons. The house can accommodate up to 10 persons but each additional person (beyond the allotted four) will have an additional fee of Php 500.
If you want to travel around Bohol and still want to feel like you’re at home, Empty Nest Vacation House is the best place for you. You can truly call it your home away from home. You can cook and do the laundry at your own time and preference. WiFi is also available for guests who wants to stay online while staying there.
To book with Empty Nest Vacation House, you may reach them at 0918-313-2009 or make a booking through AirBnB.
If you also feel like ordering food from a restaurant, you can also use Green Dash Delivery Service to have your ordered food delivered directly at your doorstep. It’s like Bohol’s version of Food Panda. You can reach them at 09971116800 and 09225438160.
Staying at Empty Nest Vacation House also means you can take advantage of their DIY customized tour where you get to decide which places you can tour in Bohol. We got their summer package which is the Seas The Day Bohol Tour. We went to heritage places and restaurants in Tagbilaran City and kayaking at Dumaluan Beach Resort in Panglao.
And for much more convenience, you can also make arrangements with JMJ Transport Servicesfor car and van rentals that can be used for your DIY Tour. Here’s the contact information of JMJ Transport Services:

I had a great time staying at Empty Nest Vacation House. The host, Ms. Hanna Dumaluan was very accommodating to all our needs and even went beyond what’s necessary. The only thing I regretted was that I was not able to use all the amenities to fully experience what Empty Nest have to offer. If we had more time, I would have wanted to cook in the kitchen to truly feel ‘at home’. However, my stay there was a wonderful experience. It even felt like I was only staying at a Tita’s house. 🙂
The price may seem pricey to budget travelers, but I would say it is worth it. At only PHP 3000 pesos, you can already use ALL the amenities at home. I mean, that price already covers the use of all the rooms in the house, cook whenever I want, and just basically be at home. I will certainly go back and might actually bring my family next time. 🙂
