During a recent trip to Melbourne, I stayed overnight at The Great Southern Hotel with two of my friends, and it turned out to be a really enjoyable experience. The hotel is located right in the heart of the city, which was one of the best things about it. We were just steps away from shops, restaurants, sightseeing spots, convenience stores, and tram stops. Whether you’re a first-time visitor to Melbourne or a frequent traveler, the central location makes it super easy to explore the city.
Our room was incredibly spacious. We each had our own bed and plenty of space to move around, which made a big difference. The bathroom was clean and modern, too. It had all the amenities we needed, and the water pressure in the shower was just right (something I’m always particular about!). I was also impressed with the in-room amenities: the fridge, microwave, and water heater were incredibly handy, and having two dining tables was a nice touch. It was great to have everything we needed—and then some—all in one place.

One thing I really appreciated was how quick and easy the check-in and check-out process was. The self-check-in kiosks made everything super smooth, so we didn't have to wait around at the front desk, which was a relief. The self-check-out was equally hassle-free, allowing us to get on with our day without delay.
The hotel’s price was another big win. While it’s not the cheapest option in Melbourne, I found it budget-friendly considering the prime location. It strikes a nice balance between affordability and convenience, which is perfect if you're looking to stay in the city center without breaking the bank.
Now, a small hiccup: they offered complimentary noodles, which was a nice gesture, but I have to say, they didn’t hit the mark. They lacked the rich, spicy flavors that I’m used to when it comes to Asian dishes, so it was a bit of a letdown. But honestly, that was a minor issue in what was otherwise a really great stay.
Overall, my friends and I slept soundly, the beds were comfortable, and we woke up feeling refreshed. If you're looking for a place that’s comfortable, spacious, and perfectly located in Melbourne, The Great Southern Hotel is definitely worth considering!
