Travel Essentials Volume III: Packing Cubes

For a messy person like me, it is a miracle that I am so organized whenever I travel. I simply don’t like to see my undies mixed with my socks or toiletries. Organizing makes me feel like a mature person. 😀 For me, the most organized way to pack is to use packing cubes or travel organizers. It allows me to pack more while also taking up less space in my luggage or backpack.

I’ve heard a lot of people tell me, especially backpackers, that using packing cubes is just a waste of space and money. I’m a backpacker myself and using packing cubes has been totally worth my money. Separating your stuff layer by layer using a packing cube allows easier access inside your backpack. The only secret to save space is  to carefully organize your clothes and other items inside.

Packing cubes are also versatile travel accessories because you can basically use it for anything such as clothing, shoes, gadgets, toiletries, and basically anything else you want to store. They come in different sizes and designs. They are small and lightweight, which can help compress your stuff.

What I love most with packing cubes is since they are ergonomically designed to compress, they fit perfectly into most carry-on suitcases, backpacks, and even tote bags.

Others may consider it a waste of money, but for me it is a great investment. Not only does it help travelers like me maximize space and organize my items, it is also an important accessory to avoid lost or damaged items.

Do you think using packing cubes are worth it?

  • I’m a little bit OCD when it comes to packing, so I tend to have cubes and pouches when I travel and it makes finding things easier for me and it also avoids loss of things. – Gee

  • Rady James Bagnol

I don’t really like having a lot of Cubes in my bag. I really like pockets inside bags tho. I like it when I can grab my things inside my bag without looking at it nor opening the bag, to open a bag of cube. But that doesn’t mean I don’t bring cubes with me. Only just 1 or 2.

    • hannafrej

Yes, I actually use two. One for the undies and another one for shirts, etc. Samok kaayo dghang cubes oy. Murag asa mu larga. HAHAHA

  • Worth it! I’m OC. I don’t like the idea of my clean shirts touching the inside cloth of my backpack. Haha. I find it easier to grab too. I use cubes or pouches even in my regular bag that I use whenever I leave the house. My husband asked why I have so many bags in my bag. Hahaha!

  • I think these are very useful for things that easily mess up or scatter like personal hygiene and clothes. However, I don’t apply this yet because I’m too lazy to buy hahaha! I just use zip locks and plastic to organize my things in my backpack. Great post hannah! Really helpful!

I also use ziplocks and plastic if labhunon akong packing cubes. Gamit man pd kaayo to waterproof your stuff. 😀

Packing cubes are really efficient especially when you need to put a lot of small stuff and you don’t want them to be messy. 😀 Thanks for the tip!

  • Ramzy Magbitang

Those would be really helpful with keeping things neat and organized! I think I already try to implement the sort of stacking order that these cubes accomplish, only without them because I don’t own a single one. I’d love to have some though!

  • JD

Shocks! I should buy this but I will use if for my room! I wonder if there are cheaper ones in malls.

    • hannafrej

Yes, there are cheaper ones in malls, sa Travel Accessories nga area.

  • Packing cubes. Haven’t heard about this before. Will definitely take note.

  • Wow, karun pako kadungog aning packing cubes da. Googled it and yeah I think it’s a good idea!

  • Wandering Soul Scamper

I’ve heard about packing cubes when my colleague asked me to hitch with my online order.
It’s really nice to have these cubes, esp when having multi-day travels outdoors as it is really unhygienic to combine the used clothes with the clean ones. This is also a good one to organize things inside the backpack, like toiletries and others. This is really helpful by the way.

  • I told my partner we need packing cubes. We only have one bag and everything is a jumbled mess inside. We probably also need a backpack with front access. But I would really love my undies and small items to be in one accessible pack. It’s embarrassing if they just spill out of the bag during security checks. Hahaha!

    • hannafrej

Hahaha yes! One time I did not separate my undies and it all spilled out at the check-in counter. Flower2x pa jud. Hahaha uwaw kaayo

  • CAOLANO

Your post reminded me that I have to pack na for my trip to Manila. I need to buy packing cubes since I will be there for a week.
